GOV. Willie Obiano of Anambra State has urged Christians across the country to open up and allow Jesus Christ a free reign in their hearts this Easter and beyond.

A special Easter message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, James Eze, the governor observed that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ had delivered eternal victory to mankind.

According to him, when we allow Jesus to reign in our lives, we have allowed love, peace, and happiness to dwell in our hearts.

“When there’s peace in our hearts, there will be peace in the world because only a peaceful people can create a peaceful world,” he said.

Gov. Obiano assured Ndi Anambra that the state remained the safest and most peaceful state in Nigeria, pointing out that the era of public safety and prosperity that his administration ushered into the state over the past seven years would continue to grow from day today.

He commended the officers and men of the Anambra State Police Command for rising swiftly to the occasion to secure the release of his Commissioner for Public Utilities, Emeka Ezenwanne, an engineer, who was abducted by hoodlums during the recent attack on a former Central Bank Governor governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo at his Isuofia hometown.

The governor noted that the loss of lives was regrettable; this was a result of acts by the mindless.

“I pray for instant healing for the bereaved families and the survivors during the gunfight.

“As Nigeria’s safest state, our resolve will always be tested by the criminal elements that we have put out of business; we have always come back stronger.

“Public safety is tied to liberty and the price of liberty is eternal vigilance. We shall continue to stay awake to ensure that Ndi Anambra can sleep with both eyes closed,’’ Gov. Obiano reassured.

He said that soon, the criminal elements behind the cowardly act would be arrested and brought to justice.

Gov. Obiano urged the citizenry to celebrate Easter with their families in peace and harmony because “God will never desert Anambra State in this hour of need’’.
