The Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Adm. David Adeniran, has urged senior officers of the Command to be more dedicated in the performance of their responsibilities.
Adeniran gave the charge on Wednesday during the decoration ceremony of eight senior officers at the Command’s Officers’ Mess Calabar.
He reiterated that “to whom much is given, much is expected”, hence the need for the officers to brace up for their new roles.
“As you grow higher in rank in the service, your responsibilities would become higher too, therefore you must brace up to the expectation of your respective new ranks,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the decorated officers include Commodore Cajethan Aniaku, Capt. Suleiman Mohammed, Capt. Suleiman Abdulllahi, Surgeon Capt. Uche Okeke and Surgeon Capt. Ugochi Nzeribe-Abangwu.
Others are Surgeon Commander Kabir Salami, Surgeon Commander Ido-Akpan and Commander Emmanuel Aknyemi.
Responding on behalf of the decorated officers, Commodore Aniaku thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for deeming them fit to be promoted.
On behalf of his colleagues, Aniaku promised to make the Nigerian Navy proud in the performance of their respective assigned higher responsibilities.
He thanked the Navy Board, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command and other distinguished senior officers to have found them worthy of their new ranks. (NAN)
