EIGHT traditional canon shots signifying the eight communities of Ngor Ancient Kingdom boomed as the king placed the red cap on the head of Jossy Nkwocha, and named him Ebube Dike 1 of Ngor, meaning the peoples’ general.

The occasion was the highpoint of the 10th coronation anniversary of Fredrick Nwachukwu, traditional ruler and the Eze-Ogboro 1 of Ngor autonomous community in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State on December 28, 2015.

Nkwocha, former general editor of Newswatch magazine, was among seven eminent sons of the town honoured for their various contributions to their fatherland.

In a citation read at the palace of the king, Nkwocha was credited with seven projects for the community. He single-handedly built and donated a vicarage, house for priest, at the Emmanuel Anglican Church, Ngor.

Nkwocha single-handedly renovated Ngor junction of Aba-Owerri to prevent accidents. He was chairman of Peace and Reconciliation Committee after a bitter Ezeship tussle ten years ago.

In 2014, Nkwocha also wrote a book titled NGOR to project the community. He was also commended for employment opportunities for youths in the community.

Impressed by Nkwocha’s contributions, Nwachukwu, hence gave him the chieftaincy title of Ebube Dike of Ngor Okpala.

In his speech at the occasion, Nkwocha said he was quite humbled with the honour bestowed on him by his people and promised to do more.

Other persons who were also honoured include Okenze Innocent Edi; Emma Black Eke, Odiukonamba; Emma Nworgu, Udokanma; Ugo Ken Opraugo, Akarakaugo; Chukwuemeka Nkwocha, Nnanyereugo and Peter Okere.

Emeka Egu, a high chief and Ijeoma Egu, his wife, from Umuohiagu community who live in the United States were also honoued with chieftaincy titles.

Okenze Sylvester Obinna, the Okenze Ngor Okpala was chairman of the 10th year coronation of Eze Nwachukwu. E. Okorafor, a reverend and Anglican bishop of Egbu diocese, was special guest.

Nwachukwu was grateful to God for keeping him in the past 10 years on the throne. He is also chairman of council of traditional rulers in Ngor okpala. Almost all the 30 ezes in the LGA graced the occasion.
