Editorial Suite

THE year 2012 was remarkable in many ways. It witnessed major earth-shaking events, political upheavals and both man-made and natural disasters. Journalists, always known for writing history in a hurry recorded the events as they happened from January to December. The major events that happened beginning with the January fuel subsidy protest, the mid-year Dana aircraft disaster to the unprecedented flooding in 22 states of the federation affected every sphere of our lives be it politics, economy, sport and culture, for better or worse.  The media was not left out in the tumultuous developments that hit the country. For instance, Newswatch, the oldest general interest news magazine in the country, was rested by Jimoh Ibrahim, the new core investor. Realnews magazine came into being after the death of Newswatch as Hurricane Jimoh displaced most journalists and other staff working there.

In a bid to chronicle in details what transpired during the year across the world, we have dedicated this edition of Realnews to review major events of the year. It is entitled:  Events 2012 and it is to your delight.

We would like to use this opportunity to let you know that we will be publishing the next issue of the magazine from January 14, 2013. The Realnews team wishes you all a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
