54 graduating students of NAU to bag first class

FIFTY-FOUR graduating students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, are expected to receive first class degrees during the 12th convocation ceremony of the institution scheduled to hold on Thursday.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, disclosed this at a  pre-convocation briefing held in his office.

The VC said the Minister of Transport, Hon.  Rotimi Amaechi, would deliver a lecture on the occasion, themed, ‘The position of the Igbo in Nigerian politics’.

He said a total of 7,731 students would graduate from the institution, with 6,641 and 190 obtaining Bachelor degrees and Post-graduates Diplomas respectively, while 674 and 227 would be awarded Masters Degrees and PhDs.

He said, “We shall celebrate specially those who made first class”.

Ahaneku said the choice of Amaechi as the guest lecturer was informed by his charismatic and detribalised disposition.

He said that honorary doctorate degrees would be awarded to Senator Ben Obi, Alhaji Sani Daura and Chief Jacob Wood during the ceremony. – Punch
