Ondo State Governor and Visitor to the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu has appealed to the stakeholders to support the institution in the area of funding.

The governor said the funding of education generally should not be left for government alone.

Akeredolu stated this while speaking at the grand finale of the eighth convocation of the AAUA. At the ceremony, no fewer than 5, 252 students of the institution were awarded different degrees.

Represented at the occasion by his deputy, Mr. Agboola Ajayi, the governor, however, said the government was doing its best to ensure that the varsity maintained its academic standard among the universities in Nigeria. He also disclosed that the institution which was ranked 31st had moved to 18th this year.

The Visitor said, “The government of Ondo State is proud of Adekunle Ajasin University, an institution that has become a force to be reckoned with in its 19 years of existence where other universities are struggling to make a name.

“It is gratifying that graduates of this university are winning laurels and making waves globally. I would like to charge them to push further so that AAUA would be established as a global champion.” – Punch
