The Anambra State government inaugurates two boards to sustain the tempo of academic excellence 

 

 

GOVERNOR Willie Obiano of Anambra has inaugurated two new basic education boards which are to sustain the tempo of academic excellence in the state.

The two boards are Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, and state Post Primary School Service Commission, PPSSC.

The ASUBEB board has six members with Patrick Ugbaja as chairman, while PPSSC has eight members, headed by Ifeoma Okaro.

During the event at the exco-vhambers, Government House, Awka, Governor Obiano noted that members of the board has five years service terms to function.

He noted that the appointed members could be dissolved if they fail to discharge their duties diligently.

Governor Obiano commended former members for their commitment toward improving the standard of education in the state.

The governor urged members of ASUBEB to leverage on the performance of the state in academics by promoting girl-child and migrant farmers education.

He enjoined them to deploy professionalism in their work, warning that indolence would not be entertained.

The State Commissioner for Basic Education, Prof. Kate Omenugha expressed happiness at the quality of individuals selected by the Governor into the boards.

Mr Ugbaja and Mrs Okaro pledged to help to promote academic excellence.

“They will discharge their duties in line with the guiding rules of the boards,’’ added Ugbaja.
