Anambra to recruit 1,000 teachers

ANAMBRA State Government has commenced the recruitment of teachers to boost teaching in various fields of learning. Governor Willie Obiano announced that the newly recruited teachers would be subjected to rigorous training to expose them to modern approach to teaching in line with global standards.

He explained that under the recruitment plan, 1,000 teachers would be engaged to handle various subjects. According to him no fewer than 500 teachers will be absorbed in secondary and 500 in primary schools.

Obiano announced this during inauguration of newly built Administrative Building of the Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Onitsha Zonal Office of the Ministry of Education, Onitsha.

The building was bankrolled by the Parent Teachers Association of the Senior Secondary School, Onitsha Zone.

Obiano added that his administration had commenced perimeter fencing of various technical schools in the state, saying the premises of the Onitsha Zonal Office would also benefit from fencing in accordance with United Nations standards.

Other amenities promised by Obiano include immediate re-roofing of the old buildings in the office, provision of high powered electricity generating set, landscaping, provision of borehole and reticulation of water.

“My administration will continue to invest in education as one of the driving forces to reposition the future of the youths.

“We will not relent in providing for the welfare of teachers in addition to improving standard of learning,’’ Obiano re-assured.

He, however, commended the selfless efforts of parents to support government in education, urging those in other zones to borrow a leaf.

Kate Omenugha, the commissioner for Education,  noted that support from parents were because of visible infrastructure improvement by the present administration.

According to her, Obiano has recorded tremendous landmark achievements.

Joy Ulasi, the chairman, PPSSC, explained that one of the dreams of Obiano administration was to promote effective learning in schools through quality assurance indices and maintenance of discipline among staff and students.

Uzo Eze, the zonal director of Education, Onitsha Zone, and Francis Udeoba, the chairman of the occasion, noted that Anambra stood high in education.
