Bishop’s spouse lauds governor’s wife on girl-child education

MARTHA Ibezim, the wife of bishop of Awka Diocese, Anglican Communion has commended Ebelechukwu Obiano for her contributions toward growth of girl-child education in Anambra State.

It was gathered that as at 2018, Obiano had sponsored no fewer than 350 girl-child through training in vocational institutions in the state.

In commending governor’s wife, Ibezim announced at the 2018/2019 Matriculation Ceremony of the Mary Sumner Vocational Institute, Awka that she would want her to sponsor more.

She urged the new students to focus on their studies and acquire the skills for which they have come to learn. “your device today is your dynamite tomorrow.’’

The prelate’s wife enjoined the students to value the orientation, given to them, which would position them to face challenges in the society.

She called on the Bank of Industries and philanthropists to partner with the institute by providing them equipment for learning.

“The choice of Mary Sumner Institute is for useful engagement of our hands. Your hands, your intellects, your skills and your life will bring tremendous change to our society.

“You have come to master ways of turning nothing to something, adding value to God’s creation and making livelihood out of them,” Ibezim added.

She commended the Bishop of Awka for his holistic transformation of girl-child education in Anambra State.

Director of the institution, Mrs Ifeoma Ezomike praised the Bishop and his wife for their support to the school, urging the students to remain focused on their studies.

Drama, welcome songs and news casting added glamour to the event.

The ceremony attracted the Chaplain of the school, the Archdeacon’s wives, the Director of the school, clergy’s wives and the general public.
