The Chairman, Jigawa State Universal Basic Education Board, Alhaji Salisu Zakari, has said the board would sanction primary school teachers who failed to prepare lesson plan for effective teaching.

Zakari disclosed this on Thursday in Kirikasamma Local Government Areaa at the opening of a one-day induction training for teachers under the N-power initiative.

According to him, a lesson plan is a detailed description of a course of instructions as well as a guide to successful teaching programme.

“Lesson plan is a road map of what to learn and how it would be taught. It gives a guide on the sequence and proper timing of lessons.

“Therefore, you are required to ensure that you always prepare your lesson plan effectively or risk being sanctioned,” he said.

Represented by Malam Garba Umar, the board’s School Support and Improvement Officer, Zakari advised teachers to always keep students’ records in a tidy manner and stick to the approved academic contents.

The chairman urged teachers to develop simple methods of teaching for easy understanding of the students.

Earlier, the council’s Education Secretary, Alhaji Muhammadu Abdullahi, said a total of 330 N-power trained teachers were posted to the council by the scheme.

While noting that the training would help the teachers to meet the standard envisaged by the board, he cautioned them against coming late to work and absenteeism. (NAN)
