Katsina State to establish Model Female Secondary School — Masari

The Katsina State Government says it is set to establish model girls’ secondary school in Katsina Metropolis to boost female education.

Gov. Aminu Masari disclosed this during interactive session with journalists on Thursday in Katsina.

The governor said that “the idea behind establishing the special girls’ secondary school is to give maximum support to female child education in the state.

“The state government has already acquired the defunct kiddies International School in Katsina metropolis for the establishment of the model school.

“The government will surely make the school like the model family support secondary school in Katsina, where modern facilities had been installed.”

Masari disclosed that the state government was committed to providing conducive atmosphere for learning, especially in female boarding secondary schools.

He said that his administration had renovated female secondary schools at Ajiwa, Sandamu Rogogo, Kabomo and Government Girls Secondary School Malumfahi.

He added that “next year, all girls’ boarding schools will be renovated.”

Masari urged parents to encourage their female daughters to acquire vocational training to secure their future and be self reliant.

According to him, as future mothers, the girl-child should be trained to have skills that will reduce over dependence on their husbands.

“If you train a woman, she can maintain the family and thus reduce family conflicts in the society” he said (NAN)
