THE Zamfara Government on Wednesday, dismissed as fake, the news being circulated in the social media of protest by its students studying Medical and Nursing Sciences in Sudan.

Malam Lukman Majidadi, the Special Adviser to Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara on Scholarship Matters, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gusau.

NAN reports that the alleged fake news said some Zamfara indigenes studying in Sudan have protested over non-payment of accommodation fees and allowances.

“We heard about recent social media posts on our Medical and Nursing Students in Sudan protesting about issues of accommodation and allowances.

“I want to inform the general public that such information is not true. Therefore members of the public should disregard such fabricated information.

“We have been in contact with the students and nobody among them told us such information,” Majidadi said.

“We are surprised to be seeing such information going round through social media, therefore, we consider this as the handwork of mischief-makers.

“I am calling on students to shun from engaging in politics. Don’t allow any politician to use you to destroy your future”

“As a student, in case of any grievances, reports to us through established channels.

“As a special adviser on scholarship, I knew the state government had settled all the accommodation fees and allowances of all the 67 students studying Medicine and Nursing Sciences at Sudan International University and University of Medical and Sciences Technology in Khartoum, Sudan.

“We gave each of the 67 students 100 dollar monthly as allowance through the management of the two institutions,” Majidadi said. (NAN)
