UNN now best university in Nigeria


THE University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, has been ranked as the best university in Nigeria and 17th in Africa. The university was ranked based on citations from publications, which is a direct measurement of quality of research output for the year.

According to the Ranking Web Universities publications, UNN is the only Nigerian university in the top 20 ranking institutions in Africa. The prestigious university ranked 1108 in the world with 108,209 citations. UNN said this remarkable achievement is all due to the push for excellence in publishing visible journals that are cited internationally by staff of the university.

Apart from the UNN, University of Ibadan was ranked second best in Nigeria with 86,756 citations at 1246 in the World; University of Ilorin third with 74,245 citations at 1328 in the world; Covenant University fourth with 55,844 citations at 1511 in the world and University of Lagos fifth with 41,121 citations at 1726 in the world.

The report ranked Harvard University as the best in the world with 8,704,969 citations, while in Africa, University of Cape Town was ranked best in Africa with 996, 898 citations.
