THE Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) on Tuesday sued for peace as the #EndSARS protests continued across the country.
IPMAN’s President, Mr Chinedu Okoronkwo and MOMAN’s Chairman, Mr Tunji Oyebanji, made the calls in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
NAN reports that curfew has been declared in Lagos and Edo States following violent acts of some suspected thugs who hijacked the protests organised by youths against police brutality in the country.
Okoronkwo told NAN that everybody was at a disadvantaged position in crisis period, adding that it was time for peace and normalcy to be restored.
He said: “I think they have made their point and it is well understood.
“This is the time to begin to withdraw and see how government can begin the implementation.
“Government is serious now and they know that power belongs to the people and they should not drag it further now so that hoodlums will not hijack the protest.
“My advice is that the immediate impact has been made and this is the time for us to sit down and begin to put things in order at every level.”
Similarly, Oyebanji expressed optimism that everything would be resolved as soon as possible.
“Even the change that they are looking at will take some time but I think government should start quickly to look at how it can speed up the process, ” he said.
