ENSIEC confirms security, logistics in place for Enugu LG polls

THE Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission, ENSIEC, has confirmed that the local government  elections, scheduled for September 21, will proceed as planned, dismissing any speculation of a potential delay.

ENSIEC Chairman, Prof. Christian Ngwu, affirmed, “The commission is following its timetable and has the necessary financial support from the state government to ensure a resounding successful polls.”

Prof. Ngwu emphasised that all logistical arrangements had been finalised, focusing on security measures.

“ENSIEC is in touch with the security agencies and other organisations that will provide support services before, during, and after the elections proper,” he stated.

The commission has also organised a three-day train-the-trainers workshop for 50 central electoral officials to ensure efficient conduct of the polls.

Over 10 political parties have expressed interest in the elections, which will see 17 chairmanships and 260 ward councillor seats contested across the state.

Prof. Ngwu assured the public, “We are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring proactive and adequate security for electoral materials, officials, and voters on election day.” –vanguard
