TO encourage youths to engage in agriculture as a means of gainful employment and livelihood, Lagos-based Kairos Events and Entertainment, has said that it would organise the maiden  Face of Agriculture Nigeria (FOAN) Beauty Pageant in Calabar in November.

The Project Director, Mr Sunday Wealth, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos that the essence of the pageant was to encourage the youth and women aged 18 to 28 in Nigeria to engage in agricultural practices.

Wealth said that it would help youths to harness their natural resources and create employment for the greater good and a better ecosystem.

“The pageant which will be first of its kind will also foster business and economic opportunity, community development, cultural exchange and tourism among the states in Nigeria.

“The project will highlight, acknowledge the agricultural sector and the natural beauty within young women from Nigeria as it will focus on natural beauty, culture, determination and intellect.

“The event aims to bring out the best qualities from young people, and drive for success as well as empower them in the agricultural wing of the nation as part of nation building and use beauty as a vehicle to promote agriculture,” Wealth said.

He said that participants that emerge winners in the run-up would win a brand new saloon car worth N8 million.

Wealth said that other benefits include an agricultural grant worth N10 million to start up and own an agricultural business.

They will also learn skills from animal husbandry to poultry farm and become proficient, get opportunities in various agricultural development schemes, receive recognition across Nigeria, get an opportunity to become a model and become a Brand Ambassador for FOAN, he added.
