IGP Praised For Fighting Corruption In Nigeria

IBRAHIM Idris, inspector general of Police, on Monday, February 27, commended some members of entertainment industry under the aegis of “Voice of Change Nigeria” led by Emeka Ike, who paid a courtesy call on him at the IGP Force Headquarters Abuja. Idris hailed the group for supporting the Force in crime fighting in the country.

The IGP, while appreciating the efforts of the entertainment industry, especially in engaging youths in activities that deter them from partaking in crime, lauded the industry for using movies productions to reduce unemployment in the country.

He praised the group for its, saying all Nigerians must join hands together to see the end of fight against corruption.

The IGP also reiterated his commitment to fighting corruption right from the time he took mantle of the force by declaring his assets via Code of Conduct Bureau which other officers have also followed suit.

Idris pledged to continue to remind Nigerians of the evil of corruption and that “anybody arrested, irrespective of the position of such persons, will be investigated and prosecuted for the offence.”

Ike in his speech said of the industry’s readiness to support the fight against corruption in the country. He further disclosed that the entertainment group was ready to embark on rally tagged “Mega Rally” Voice of Change Nigeria in all the states of the federation, while the IGP assured that all the commissioners of Police in charge of state commands would be directed to provide adequate security for the group during the campaign.

The group included; Performing Musician Employer Association, PMAN; Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN; National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS; Civil Society Groups and the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON.
