LASPARK commends corporate organizations’ for their involvement in LASG’s greening project

THE Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) has commended some corporate organizations for their involvement in the greening project initiated by the state government.

LASPARK said that it was a welcome development that the organised private sector was accepting to beautify and maintain some strategic locations within the state at no cost to the state government.

Its General Manager, Mrs Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, gave the commendation on Wednesday and added that the beautification and greening projects had begun to gain significance.

Adebiyi-Abiola disclosed that no less than 40 corporate institutions were ready to invest in the management of several open places across the state at no cost to the state government.

According to her, they will bequeath a greener and sustainable environment for the overall progress of the state and the wellbeing of the citizenry.

“The desire of the Lagos State Government to promote public-private partnership initiative (PPPI) in its greening project has further received an appreciable boost.

“ We have brought into our fold more reputable organisations to drive our ambition in this area,” Adebiyi-Abiola said in a statement.

She expressed appreciation to Access Bank Plc for adopting to beautify Mobolaji Bank-Anthony stretch, from Maryland down to General Hospital, Ikeja.

Adebiyi-Abiola said Guinea Insurance Plc had also adopted to beautify a portion under Jibowu Bridge including Jibowu Recreational Park, Yaba.

“The maintenance of Tunji Braithwaithe Park will, henceforth, be carried out by Aiteo Group PLC.

“The landscaping and beautification of Alfred Riwane Median from Falomo through Osborne Road, Ikoyi will be done by Sterling Assets Management and Trust Ltd.

“Ademola Adetokunbo Median on Victoria Island has been adopted for beautification by Alpha Morgan Capital Ltd.

“The Hills Harvest Ltd and Investment One Financial Services Ltd will landscape and beautify the fitness Bar at QMB Road along Lekki-Ajah expressway and Ahmadu Bello Triangular lay-by respectively,” she said.

According to her, the adventure toward an enterprising and smart society was fast becoming a reality.

“The impetus of corporate entities to invest in the greening projects of the state is inadvertently connecting citizens to greater opportunities and remarkably enthroning seamless development across the state.

“The transformation of these locations is greatly reflecting and promoting the state government’s greening ambition for the cosmopolitan city.

“This is inspiring citizens to appreciate and embrace the whole essence of the greening initiative.

“Through this network of adoptions, the general policies of the government in respect of the development, maintenance and management of open spaces across the state is been reinforced.

“The state is experiencing rapid and efficient development,” she said.

Adebiyi-Abiola said that the public-private synergy remained the most veritable platform for creating an enduring investment in the greening project.

She encouraged other corporate establishments to align with LASPARK in order to achieve wider coverage and at the same time boost their returns on investment.

Adebiyi-Abiola noted that such collaborative effort would go a long way in achieving the overall objective of the state government in mitigating the effect of climate change and its attendant global warming. (NAN)
