TEMITOPE Kehinde, a musician, popularly known as “Kennykeyz,’’ said on Wednesday that artistes needed to develop new strategies to break into the already saturated competitive entertainment industry, to remain relevant.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that his single song, titled “Superu,’’ was strategically designed to have some effect in the industry by talking about the essence of marriage.

According to him, since Sunny Nneji’s “Oruka,’’ hit track in 2003, there has been no relevant song on marriage, which led to his inspiration to produce one.

“There are no wedding songs out there in Nigeria. Most of the songs out there were club songs, so the least I could do was to produce a wedding song for the lovers.

“Superu’’ was finely created to synchronise a harmony between the musical instruments and the lyrics, to create a feeling of relaxation and happiness in many homes,’’ he said.

Kehinde said that it was necessary to develop new ways of encouraging marriages in the society, so as to enable the passing-on of significant cultural values to the next generation.

“We are in a time where there is so much invasion of foreign ideas, such that if we do not encourage our union, our core values might completely be erasedin no time,’’ he said.

The Afro Hip Hop artist advised musicians to be more creative in their works and to desist from just singing about money, drugs and unproductive, imaginary lifestyles.

Kehinde said that there were currently numerous issues in the country that up and coming musicians could sing about, as a strategy to make a name for themselves.

“There are still so many opportunities in the industry that if you can look inwards and outwards and be creative with your ideas, the sky is the limit,’’ he added. (NAN)
