ANSG to procure More Operational Vehicles for ASWAMA

AMECHI Akorah,  managing director, Anambra State Waste Management Authority, ASWAMA, says Governor Willie Obiano has promised to procure compactors and other operational vehicles for ASWAMA.

Akorah, while speaking with newsmen at Awka, said the procurement of more vehicles would help to improve service delivery by the agency.

He said the governor also promised to employ more workers in the agency in order to achieve prompt evacuation of wastes.

“His Excellency so much believes in cleanliness. He does not tolerate unclean environment at all and that is why he wants to achieve a clean and healthy environment for Ndi Anambra.

“Everybody should participate in keeping the environment clean. Put bio-degradable wastes and non bio-degradable wastes in separate bags and stack at designated places for evacuation by ASWAMA,’’ Akorah said.

The ASWAMA boss, the, appealed to community leaders to assist in the exercise by ensuring that their people protect and promote clean environment in their various communities.

Akorah said that environmental health officers would soon embark on sanitary inspection of homes to ensure that every home had toilet facilities.

He enjoined the public to desist from disposing of feaces in ASWAMA waste bin, noting that it was detrimental to people’s health.
