THE Federal Government has commenced refurbishment of some roads in Ihiala Local Government area of Anambra State and environs.

One of the major roads being undertaken is the road around Total/Primary Health Centre axis on the Orlu-Ihiala expressway.

The Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA, mobilised to site since Oct. 30, 2019.

The supervisor of the agency in the area, Mr. Solomon Ndukwe, an Engineer told the Anambra State Information Officer that the road was among the eastern roads that was indentified by Federal Government for rehabilitation.

He explained that the road was among those sent by the Anambra State Governor as the Federal roads in the state that needed refurbishment.

Ndukwe also said that the rehabilitation would not only be carried out on the Orlu Road alone, but would include many other Federal roads in Anambra State.

“We shall be facing more of the trunk B roads that link many towns in the state,’’ he said.

The rehabilitation would also be extended to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Isseke on the Orlu Road axis, which had been a `death trap’ to road users.

Meanwhile, the traditional ruler of Ihiala community, Igwe Thomas Obidiegwu, who visited the area, commended the Federal Government for a good job.

He also praised Gov. Willie Obiano for attracting such a huge and capital intensive project to his domain.

Igwe Obidiegwu added that this development would bring about a smooth and easy movement of the people of Ihiala and environs, during the Christmas period.
