The Kwara Ministry of Information, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) office and Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA) in Ilorin, have been submerged in water as a result of erosion.

NAN reports on Wednesday that the erosion had prevented staff members from assessing their office premises with their cars.

Also, a water tanker that came to supply water to the offices was stuck in a gully created by the erosion for more than three hours.

Investigation carried out by NAN correspondent revealed that the drainage at the entrance to the offices in front of St. Anthony Secondary school was filled with sand.

Principal of the school, Mrs Elizabeth Afolayan said the management had already made efforts to clear the sand and free the drains.

Afolayan said that she had been preventing outsiders from packing the sand to resell because the school would need them for its upcoming projects.

”We are making plans to pack the sands and I am awaiting the tipper drivers that will pack them inside the school for us.

” We do not want outsiders to pack them because we have upcoming projects and if we want to buy sand then, it will be N10,000 per tipper load.

”So, it is not that we are inconveniencing people by allowing flood to overtake everywhere, we are making efforts.

”Between today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday), the drainage will be free,” Afolayan said.

She however noted that the drainage system were too small and would be better if expanded. (NAN)
