THE Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has distributed relief materials to 450 victims of windstorms in the state.

SEMA Executive Secretary, Dr. Muhammad Goje disclosed this on Wednesday at one of the distribution points in Damaturu.

“This is the second phase of distribution of relief materials to victims of windstorms in the state, which affected over 450 households on June 8 and June 10,” Goje said.

He said that Gov. Mai Mala Buni directed the agency to carry out the support to the victims.

Goje added that the victims were categorized into three- those worst hit by the windstorms, who lost virtually everything as well as the elderly people.

“The second category consists of those who are heads of households whose roofing were blown up and wanted to fix the damage and go on with their struggle to provide for the family.

“The third category consists of women-headed-households, who lost everything due to the windstorms,” he said.

Goje explained that some of the items distributed included roofing sheets, wood, cement, buckets, and clothing materials.

He said the distribution would go on across the Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state affected by the disaster. (NAN)
