Ex-VP Sambo to grace Igbinedion Varsity’s 22nd matriculation

A former Vice President, Namadi Sambo, is expected to grace the 22nd matriculation of Igbinedion University, Okada in Edo on Saturday.

The Vice-Chancellor of the first private university in Nigeria, Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, announced this on Wednesday in a statement issued by the institution’s Registrar, Mr Friday Bakare in Benin.

According to the statement, Mr Justice Derefaka, Technical Adviser on Gas Business and Policy Implementation to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, will deliver the matriculation lecture.

NAN reports that the matriculation lecture is entitled: “Refocusing Value-Driven Education in the Digital Age through the Lens of Entrepreneurship, Enterprise and Global Competitiveness: Lessons for Nigeria”.

The statement noted that the event would be held physically in strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols as well as online via Zoom.

It advised parents and guests to join the ceremony via zoom, beginning from 10 am.

The statement, however, instructed all matriculating students to come with their face masks and hand sanitizers, and maintain physical distancing at the venue of the event. (NAN)
