THE Realnews Sixth Anniversary Lecture held successfully on Thursday, November 15, at the Sheraton Hotel, Lagos.
The lecture was delivered by Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.Ibn Mohamed Chambas, the United Nations Secretary General’s Special Representative to West Africa and Sahel, Dakar, Senegal, gave a goodwill message to Realnews along with Maikanti Baru,group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation through Gboyega Bello, a manager in the Corporation.
Three discussants – Charles Okeke, Dean, School of Education, Behavioural & Social Sciences and Professor of Economics, The College of Southern Nevada, Nevada System if Higher Education, Charleston Campus, Las vegas, USA, Professor Adebayo Olukoshi, Director, Africa and West Asia Regional Programme and Liasion Office to the African Union, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Engr. Simbi Wabote, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, Bayelsa, Nigeria, who was represented by Tunde Adelana, a director from NCDMD – all made very stimulating contributions on the topic of the lecture: “Political Transitions and Africa’s Economic Development”.
The event was masterfully chaired by Haroun Adamu, former Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund.
After the very elucidating lecture, discussions and robust interactive session, the resource persons and our ambassadors were inducted into the prestigious Realnews Hall of Fame.
A huge crowd made up of professionals from all walks of life attended the event which was widely reported in the media. Dignitaries, who attended the event include Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State and vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Nnamdi S. Enuah, who represented Chris Ngige, minister of Labour while Austin Emeanua who represented American Ambassador and the U.S. Consulate in Nigeria.
