FG Holds International Workshop on Chemical Weapons

AN international workshop on Assistance and Protection Against Chemical Weapons, will hold in Nigeria from Monday, October 31 to Friday, November 4, 2016 at the ECOWAS Secretariat Asokoro, Abuja.  The workshop is organized by the Political and Economic Affairs Department, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, OSGF, in conjunction with the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, OPCW, Hague, Netherlands.

A team of experts from the OPCW will participate at the workshop as resource persons while participants are drawn amongst critical stakeholders in both the public and private sectors in Nigeria.  The workshop will focus on issues that seek to identify toxic threats and hazards; support the development of national chemical risk assessment reports; identify gaps based on the audit of country’s current capabilities and identify standards to be achieved in assistance and protection; and finally, assist in the development of a counter chemical threats capability as basis for a national protection programme.
