THE Federal Government has reinstated the 91 sacked workers of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria, CRIN, Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The workers officially resumed work on Thursday, September 1.
Addressing journalists at the CRIN premises in Ibadan, on Thursday, September 1, Feyisara Okelana, the new executive director of the institute, said the CRIN had received a letter which vindicated the sacked workers that their sack was victimisation.
Okelana said: “My profound gratitude goes to President Muhammadu Buhari for ordering the reopening of the institute in December and the honourable minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, who after a thorough investigation vindicated the sacked workers of the institute.”
The director urged the workers to wake up to their responsibilities of fulfilling the mandate of quality research to salvage the country from the present economic challenges.
