THE Syrian Government on Tuesday said as many as 8,000 people would leave the rebel-held Rukban Camp in Southern Syria in three batches.

The evacuation of these people will lead to dismantling the camp, which was located in the al-Tanf area in Southeastern Syria near the Syrian-Jordanian border.

The Syrian Government, however, did not disclose the exact time that the camp would be completely empty of displaced people but it said it was going to happen in the nearest future.

The Rukban Camp is home to 50,000 displaced Syrians, who were suffering from the harsh humanitarian situation.

Several batches of displaced people had since left the camp in April and reached government areas in the central province of Homs. (Xinhua/NAN)
