
Forum charts ways to sustainable youth development

THE National Youths Stakeholder’s Engagement Forum held recently in Kwara State brought together youth leaders, expert facilitators, resource persons, policy makers, and other stakeholders from various sectors to deliberate on actionable strategies for sustainable youth development.
Focusing on four Thematic Areas of Education and Skills Development, Employment and Entrepreneurship, Health and Wellbeing, Civic Engagement and Participation, the initiative was geared towards addressing the multifaceted challenges facing Nigerian youth, while exploring opportunities for their empowerment and engagement.
The Youth Engagement Forum also featured a breakout session where participants engaged in discussion around Each Thematic Area and also presented their findings and recommendation at a plenary session.
Speaking at the event His Excellency, Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman, the Governor of Kwara State, who was represented by Shehu Ndanusa Usman, Commissioner for Youth Development, noted that Kwara State gives great attention to Youth Development, especially in areas such as Agriculture, ICT, Soft Loans for young entrepreneurs as well as other programmes geared towards self-reliance of Kwara Youth.
Similarly, the Minister of Youth Development, Jamila Bio Ibrahim, who was also represented at the Stakeholders Forum by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Olubunmi Olusanya in her keynote address, expressed the ministry’s commitment to promoting an enabling environment for youth and amplifying their voices, amongst others.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Garba Malumfashi, a Senior Fellow at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Representatives of the National Economic Summit Group, Olive Community Development Initiative, National Youth Council of Nigeria, National Association of Nigerian Students, and the Nigerian Youth Parliament among others.
