THE Chairman of KEFFES Rural Development Foundation in Bayelsa, Mr Matthew Sele-Epri, has described reports of his purported impeachment as a joke and the handiwork of jesters.

KEFFES is the acronym for Koluama 1 and 2, Ezetu 1 and 2, Foropa, Fish Town; Ekeni, and Sangana oil-rich communities in Southern Ijaw and Brass Local Government Areas, located on the Atlantic coastline in Bayelsa.

Sele-Epri in a statement on Thursday explained that his response was to set the records straight and not allow falsehood to thrive before the right-thinking members of the public and KEFFES stakeholders in general.

He said the meeting held on Jan. 27 was presided over by himself from the start to the end.

He said at no time did suspension or impeachment formed part of the meeting’s agenda.

He implored the public to dismiss the impeachment claim in its entirety as he remained the chairman of KEFFES RDF and Ngozi Amachree the secretary of the foundation as there was no iota of truth in the reports.

The KEFFES foundation had in a statement issued by Mrs. Maureen Alamene said they had removed Sele-Epri from office as chairman.

Alamene said the erstwhile chairman was served suspension notice on Jan. 27, 2023 and later removed from office on the grounds of gross misconduct.

The statement claimed the action was in line with the constitution of the foundation, as amended.

In the “Notice of Removal From Office“, dated Jan. 31, 2023 and signed by the Vice Chairperson,  Alamene and the Assistant Secretary, Promise Ebitimi Kemelayefa, the body Alamene has taken over the mantle of leadership.  (NAN)
