FRSC to deploy personnel to tank farms to track safety of articulated vehicles

THE Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it would deploy personnel to tank farms to track safety of articulated vehicles, as part of measures to reduce traffic accidents.

The Corps Marshal, FRSC, Dauda Biu said this while addressing newsmen on Friday in Abuja on the corps’ strategy for 2023.

According to him, adequate supervision would ensure strict compliance to maximum safety standards including the installation of speed limit device, anti-spill safety valve and on-board monitoring devices, among others.

Biu sai that the objective was to halt all incidences of crashes involving articulated vehicles.

“The Corps will also collaborate with the judiciary in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory for immediate upscaling of mobile courts operations nationwide with more stringent penalties for offenders.

“We will enhance consultation with fleet operators for the establishment of driving schools for training and retraining of drivers, especially drivers of articulated vehicles among,” he said.

The FRSC boss assured that the corps would enhance its visibility through effective and efficient deployment of operational tools nationwide.

He said that the personnel would be equipped with patrol vehicles, breathalysers, traffic cones, radar guns, vehicle and body cameras among others, for effective operation.

The corps marshal pledged to improve the welfare of staff and their capacity to discharge their duties efficiently and professionally. (NAN)
