The Federal Government has urged the Simba Group to establish a manufacturing plant in the country to create more job opportunities and empowerment for citizens.

Sen. Omotayo Alasoadura, the Minister of State, Labour and Productivity made this call during the inauguration of the Show Room for TVS motor products, a service centre of the organisation in Abuja on Tuesday.

NAN reports that the Simba Group established in 1988 are makers of tricycle popularly known as `Keke’   or `Okada’ and Luminous Inverter.

“I believe that in the whole of Africa, Nigeria will be your biggest market, and if that is so, can’t you come back here and start manufacturing these products.

“We have the manpower, we have the land, our electricity is improving, in the past I would not ask you to come because I know power is very important.

“But with what the Federal Government is doing, power is improving everyday and it will continue to improve, in fact you can do anything you are doing in India here.

“It will pay you more, you will empower more people, you will employ more people and Nigerians will also be happy with you,’’ the minister said.

Alasoadura said that setting up its factories in the country would enable the company to replicate the products manufactured in India.

“Such partnership will benefit Nigerians more,’’ he said.

The Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Abhay Thakur said India believed in building collaboration in terms of corporate social responsibility as well as in the creation of employment.

“We are concerned with employment of Nigerians and corporate social responsibility to Nigeria,’’ he said.

Dr Bello Tambuwal, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, said the ministry would continue to work with group in the area of agriculture.

“The Simba group has been our very good partners in agriculture, particularly in the areas of irrigations and machineries, they have been very good in development of agric products and other agric businesses.’’

Tambuwal however reiterated the minister’s call for the group to establish factories in Nigeria so that more Nigerians would be employed.

Dr Nasiru Argungu, the Director-General, the National Directorate of Employment said the group had achieved a lot as far as training of `Okada’ riders was concerned, especially on how to care for the tricycle.

Argungu said the company had helped in the adding value to the agricultural value chain by manufacturing a machine that would not need electricity in processing farm products.

He said that the Simba Group was making things easy for the directorate to achieve the mandate given to it by the government on job creation through infrastructural skills technology.

Chief Vinay Grover, the Managing Director of Simba Group said the establishment of the Flagship Show Room known as `Simba Den’ for TVS motor products would help people in the trade to replicate and build up standards.

“Automobiles today have reached a level where people have to provide good after sales services. If you have vehicles which are broken down and are not repaired on time then everybody including the fleet owners and the riders will lose their income.’’
Grover said the centre was set up to provide round the clock service through its call centres and within minutes clients were able to get advice as to what to do. (NAN)
