Chief Eden Duke, former Minister of Culture and Tourism and governorship aspirant in Cross River, has donated 200 bags of cement to the Hausa/Fulani community in Calabar, for a mosque project.

Duke announced the donation on Tuesday during a visit to the community to felicitate with them over the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

“This is the period of celebration and I deem it fit to come and celebrate with my friends.

“I heard that you have a project ongoing even though you have not informed me officially.

“I am supporting you with 200 bags of cement to hasten the completion of the project, ” he said.

The aspirant also donated N500,000 to artisans and women among them, adding that this was to boost their small businesses.

Duke called on them to continue to live in peace with their host communities, pointing out that without peace, it was impossible to achieve economic growth and stability.

Responding, Chairman of APC Elders’ Bogobiri ward 1, Mallam Aminu Bin Usman commended the aspirant for assisting them in the mosque project.

“We are grateful for your magnanimity, especially for your support to our mosque project.

“We are highly elated and I can assure you that we are not with you but we are for you, ” he said. (NAN)
