GOV. Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has appealed to the Bank of Industry (BoI) to continue to assist young Nigerians in their business ventures.

Akeredolu made the appeal on Wednesday in Akure when Mr Oladimeji Olatunde, an indigene of the state, paid him a thank you visit.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Olatunde won the maiden edition of National Micro Small Medium Enterprises on the merit of his product which was produced from recycled polythene material.

The product, ‘Tubi Refuse Bags’, won the “Award of Excellence in Manufacturing”.

The governor advised young entrepreneurs to stabilise their business that brought them fame before venturing into other businesses.

“Before you shift focus to other things, stabilise this first. You can put it into automation. You don’t abandon what brought you to fame,” he said.

Olatunde showcased the award plaque and the symbolic cheque of N500,000 cash prize to the governor.

He said his journey to stardom started during the launch of the Federal Government SMSE Policy Thrust in 2017 in Akure by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Olatunde recalled how the Vice President visited the over three hundred exhibition stands mounted by local operators within the SMSE subsector.

According to him, his nylon recycling initiative attracted the attention of the Vice President who invited him to the national competition on SMSE in Abuja.

Olatunde was accompanied on the visit  to the governor by the State Manager of BoI, Mr Raymond Adenuga, his father, Mr Tunji Olatunde, and his mentor, Mr Kunle Ayoade.

He expressed gratitude to the state government for the support given to him during the competition in Abuja. (NAN)
