THE Anambra State Government has reassured of continued investments in the education sector to ensure sustainable academic excellence.
Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra gave the assurance during a Holy Mass, to mark the feast of Christ the King at the Christ the King College (CKC), Onitsha.
Gov. Obiano was a member of the 1974 set of the great school.
The governor observed that Anambra State had remained tops in academic excellence and promised to deploy more resources to sustain the tempo even after his administration.
He urged the students to remain focused and resilient as well as embrace the available opportunity which would project them to global heights.
In his homily, the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Bishop Valerian Okeke, reaffirmed that education has remained the bedrock of every sustainable development.
Bishop Okeke urged parents to adequately support the academic pursuits of their children and wards and shun any form of malpractices that could devalue academic excellence.
He explained that Christ the King portrayed Jesus Christ as a good shepherd, who would always care for His flocks.
The bishop also enjoined Christians to be the bible their neighbours read by treating everyone with love and honesty.
