GOV. Willie Obiano of Anambra has renewed his call for ‘Think Home’ philosophy, urging affluent individuals in the state to bring home and invest part of their wealth in Anambra State.
Gov. Obiano was speaking when he inaugurated the 1km Igwe GNC Ezeude Road with Solar Powered Street Lights in Uke.
The installation of the lights was bankrolled by one of the illustrious sons of the community, Tochukwu Kpajie.
The Governor, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Awka, Emeka Ohuoha, expressed satisfaction at how more people were beginning to heed the `Aku luo Uno’ call of the present administration.
“Road construction is capital intensive project and therefore recognise Kpajie for using his wealth to develop his community,’’ he said.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Caretaker Chairman, Uke Development Union, Chucks Ezeoba, expressed support for the state government’s development strides, which include the ongoing construction of the Anambra State Cargo Airport, Umueri.
Ezeoba, however, appealed to the governor to extend the road to Eke Agu Abatete, which would benefit Uke and its neighboring communities.
The donor, Kpajie expressed gratitude to Gov. Obiano for honouring the invitation to inaugurate the road, noting that he provided the road in memory of his late father, Linus Kpajie.
“I call on well-to-do members of the community to take up one project or another as government cannot do it all alone,’’ he said.
The traditional ruler of Uke, Igwe Charles Agbala, a Surveyor, said: “I thank Chief Kpajie for the construction of the road and for all his selfless help in the community, especially the palliatives he distributed during the COVID-19 lockdown.
“I call on other members of the community to emulate him.’’
