THE Two-Faith Inter-religious Youth Organisation, an NGO, has called on security agencies in the country to share security information and work in synergy to promote peaceful coexistence in the country.

The group gave the call at the National Inter-Faith Military, Para-Military Security Summit for the North Central Geo-political zone, in Abuja.

The event, tagged “The Synergy Campaign”, had in attendance representatives from the NSCDC, Nigeria Police Force, FRSC, NDLEA and students from various schools in the FCT.

Mr Hillary Henry, President of the Organisation, said the event was aimed at building synergy and collaboration with all the security agencies in the country.

“If we look at the security situation in the country, there is need for us to contribute our quota and make sure we promote a peaceful nation where economic development will strive.

“We also want to use this opportunity to launch our ‘catch-them-young’ campaign, which focuses on enlightening young children to promote peace at their level.

“We want them to also shun social vices and be ambassadors of peace in their various schools,” he said.

On his part, Mr Abdullahi Aliyu, Chief Imam, NSCDC, advised both Christians and Muslims in the country to live in peace and harmony with one another.

He also called on all the security agencies to share intelligence information among themselves, as they were all stakeholders in the fight against civil unrest and conflicts.

Also, Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, Arch Bishop Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria Anglican Communion, said the respect for cultural values, religions and traditions were key to peaceful coexistence of all Nigerians.

Ndukuba, who was represented by Dr Olayemi Fatusi, Personal Assistant to the Primate, added that religious and traditional leaders have a crucial role to play in peace building, owing to their proximity to the people.

He advocated that the leaders should take up their responsibility to preserve, teach and communicate effectively the teachings of their faith to mankind.(NAN)
