Handball League: Niger united finally records first win


NIGER United Handball Club on Monday recorded their first win against Plateau Vipers by 35-25, following a string of seven losses at the on-going Prudent Energy Handball Premier League holding in Abuja.

They will square up against Delta Force on Wednesday, whilst Plateau Vipers face D: Defenders the same day.

Also, in other matches in the male category, Kada Stars lost to Rima Strikers 31-35, Confluence Stars lost to COAS Shooters 24-38, Delta Force also lost to Kano Pillars 15-30 and Borno Spiders were losers to Safety Shooters at 19-28.

In the female category, Adorable Angels beat Imo Grasshoppers 29-27, Plateau Peacocks over ran Seasider Babes 22-17and Defenders Babes lost to Safety Babes 26-27.

NAN reports that Hope Sunday of Plateau Peacocks was adjudged the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the female category, while the men’s team award went to Toni Agada of Confluence Stars.

Reacting to his MVP status, Toni Agada described it as an encouragement for the younger generation.

“This award is a nice initiative by Prudent Energy and I appreciate them. I will continue to improve on my skills. I also encourage others players to follow suit. I am grateful to my Coach for his support, “he said.

Hope Sunday, female MVP awardee, also appreciated her Coach for giving her the confidence to play well, saying she was proud of the award from Prudent Energy Handball League today.

Twelve teams are participating in the male category, while 10 teams are featuring in the female category, as the league draws to a close on Nov.14.
