Safety Shooters Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) men’s handball team on Sunday continued the defence of their title at the ongoing Prudent Energy handball league in Abuja as it skilfully overwhelmed Delta Force by 29-15

Also in other matches played today, Kada Stars defeated Confluence Stars 27-21, Plateau Vipers defeated COAS shooters 34-27, while Lagos Sea siders beat Niger United 27-22.

Speaking after the match, Bala Mohammed, Safety Shooters Chief Coach, said his team was still in the race to defend their title even though it had not been easy, since other teams were also playing to win.

“All others are working hard to see if they can dethrone us at the top of the league, so we need to work harder to maintain the status. We have to change tactics to win this game,” he said.

He said while his team was being careful to avoid injuries, “we are focused on taking points from matches, as we have other important teams like Rima strikers of Sokoto and Confluence Stars of Kogi to play in our subsequent matches.

“I want my players to be stronger in the next game. My players were being careful in the way we played today’s match, because we have a lot of other important matches coming up as from Monday, Coach Bala said.

Safety Shooters will face Borno Spiders in their next match, while Delta Force faces Kano Pillars on Monday.

Twelve teams are participating in the male category while 10 teams are featuring in the female category.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the league, which entered Match Day 9 on Sunday, started on Oct. 31 and will end on Nov. 14. (NAN)
