THE Daura branch of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), on Tuesday donated 100 units of blankets to security guards and other complimentary staff in the local council.

Malam Habibu Bala-Daura, the branch chairman of the union who distributed the blankets to the beneficiaries in Daura LG secretariat complex, said the gesture was aimed at motivating them to discharge their duties effectively.

He explained that the beneficiaries were carefully drawn across the six departments of the council, comprising Personnel, Agriculture, Primary Healthcare, Water and Sanitation, Works, Education and Social Services and Treasury.

Bala-Daura said that the union would continue to place priority on the welfare of its members, adding that the blankets were doled out to cushion the biting harmattan cold.

Malam Isiyaku Bukari, the council’s Head of Security and one of the beneficiaries, commended the union for such unprecedented initiative, saying it would encourage them to discharge their jobs more efficiently.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Daura branch of NULGE recently distributed foodstuffs to 1,073 staff of the council and donated uniforms to the council’s messengers. (NAN)
