Ikechukwu Umenwa, the lawmaker representing Aguata 1 Constituency,  has applauded Aguata LG Chairman for bankrolling the refurbishment of Awarasi Health Post, Uga.

Umenwa said the centre was in dilapidated condition and so, appealed to the chairman to come to their rescue.

“Thank God he listened and ordered its refurbishment. We are grateful to him. We pray God to continue to bless him,’’ Umenwa said.

The lawmaker promised to donate electricity generating set to the health centre.

Eche Ezeibe, the LG chairman, during the handover of the centre said that it was Umenwa that drew his attention to the poor state of the facility.

“It was in a very bad state when we came to see it. We started and completed the work. Today we thank God for handing it over,’’ Ezeibe said.

The chairman later called on Anthony Ekesiobi, the president-general of Uga Improvement Union, to ensure regular maintenance of the centre.

He also urged the nurses to be available and hardworking so that patients who come to assess healthcare services at the facility would be attended to.

The PG commended Umenwa for quality representation at the Anambra State House of Assembly, as he had so far attracted many dividends of democracy to their community.

He also commended the LG chairman for renovating the dilapidated Awarasi Health Post.

“We also thank them for making the building of the Uga ultra Modern Market a reality and turning Uga into a tourist centre.

Igwe Chidi Ezenwugo, the traditional ruler of Uga, while thanking Ezeibe for the reconstruction, requested for the building of more health centres in the community.

Chinememma Okpala-Nwankwo, the community health officer in charge of the centre, expressed joy and gratitude for the generosity toward them.

“I am very happy today because when I was posted to work here, the structure I met was discouraging.

“I met a dilapidated building without doors, windows, ceiling, damaged floors, it was too bad. So, we sought for help and Ezeibe answered us by rebuilding this place for us,’’ Okpala-Nwankwo noted.
