The Nigeria HIV and AIDS Indicator and Impact Survey (NAIIS) says 10 states of the country are remaining to be analysed in the ongoing HIV nationwide survey.
Dr Adebobola Bashorun, NAIIS’s Director in-charge of Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilisation, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.
Bashorun named that the states as Katsina, Zamfara, Benue, Plateau, Oyo, Yobe, Borno, Edo, Ebonyi and Delta.
“So far, survey has been concluded in 26 states including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with records of impressive response rate.
“However, data collection is ongoing in Katsina, Benue, Oyo, Yobe, Edo and Ebonyi states, while community mobilisation is ongoing in Zamfara, Plateau, Borno and Delta.
“We hope to conclude the survey by the end of the year or early January and we look forward to increased support and cooperation from the public,” he said.
Bashorun acknowledged the support of the various state governments visited, adding that they had been supportive in the provision of logistics and venues for field teams.
NAN recalls that the Federal Government launched the National AIDS Survey on June 28, to determine the true distribution of HIV and AIDS, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C in the country. (NAN)
