Odumegwu Ojukwu varsity to now use audio scope equipment for ear problems

The leader of the 20-man medical mission to Anambra has since commenced detection of Ear ailment with one of the latest equipment, Audio Scope machine.

Prakash Bhat, a Ear Nose and Throat, ENT, surgeon, one of the 20 Indian doctors being sponsored by Rotary International for the free medical mission, was seen in a section of the facility administering treatment on sick patients.

He confirmed use of the equipment, audio scope machine to scan the patients’ ear.

“It has a light that can magnify the ear. There is also a rechargeable head light that is used for operations and others that are small but used for surgery,’’ he said.

Ashik Jadnay and Rayindra Koveray, the two opticians in the team, said they were using Visuoscopic examination equipment too to determine defects to a patient’s eye.

According to them the equipment can detect defects like glaucoma, one of the root causes of blindness in patients with eye problems.
