THE Osun Government says its proposed 10-year Development Plan (2018-2028) will bring about a roadmap for sustainable development and growth of the state.

The Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget Development, Dr Olalekan Yinusa, said at the opening of a one-day validation meeting of the State Development Plan (2018-2028) and 2019 Budget on Thursday in Iwo, Osun.

According to him, the budget development plan will also help in the reformation of the public financing management.

The commissioner added that it would bring about citizens’ engagement toward wealth creation, human capital development and infrastructural growths.

He noted that creating a future for Osun was a collective responsibility and the need to bring the society together in order to share the content of the documents would help in achieving its targets.

Mr Joshua Olagbaju, the Managing Director, BDO Management Consulting Ltd, said the plan was developed through an all-inclusive participation and inputs of critical stakeholders.

Olagbaju, represented by Mr Bashorun Olarewaju, said that the sustainable development plan could not be over emphasised.

According to him, it has been positioned to serve as catalyst for development that will make the state a cynosure of all eyes.

“The BDO management Ltd are proud to be associated with this landmark achievement.

“We thank the state for the opportunity to appropriately utilise its consulting experience to facilitate the achievement for the desired results, he said.”

Olagbaju further said the state development plan would show where the state would be in the next 10 years and know the direction it ought to follow for rapid development.

He noted that the plan would not have been easy without the enabling environment and pragmatic support provided by the commissioner and other key members of the ministry.

Mrs Yetunde Esan, a Director in the ministry, called for promotion of sustainable development through pragmatic, transparent, accountable and inclusive governance.

Esan also called for the mobilisation of  human and material resources toward making the state a socio-economic and cultural hub.

She harped on the need to diversify and enhance revenue base, through provision of enabling business environment, to attract and retain investors and expand existing businesses.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the workshop had in attendance; civil society organisations, political leaders, religious leaders and media practitioners, among stakeholders.
