ANAMBRA State government has announced free child delivery to pregnant women in every government hospital in the state.

Governor Willie Obiano made the announcement during a mega Solidarity Rally, organised by Annie Okonkwo, a senator, at Emmaus House, Awka.

The governor explained that the free medical service for pregnant women would also involve post and antenatal care.

According to him we have commenced free child delivery in our government hospitals across the state.

“This is to enable some women have access to medical attention during pregnancy.

“Some do not have money to go for antenatal and postnatal, thereby endangering their lives. What we are doing is to ensure adequate medical attention for women to reduce maternal mortality rate,’’ Obiano said.

He said his administration would continue to drive the vision of providing necessary infrastructure and welfare to the people.

Obiano stressed that his administration renovated 63 healthcare centres across the state in order to ensure easy access to the Health Insurance Services, which the state House of Assembly passed into law.

In his remark, Annie Okonkwo, the organiser and one of the chieftains of PDP, described Obiano as “God’s gift to Anambra people.’’

He noted that he was joining the present APGA-led administration to support his visions for the people of the state.

“This is the only Government that has the interest of the people at heart. Obiano has performed better than his predecessors within three years. I will support him because of his commitment and sincerity,’’ Okonkwo vowed.
