PRINCE Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and Queen Elizabeth II’s husband, has been admitted to a London hospital for a hip operation, a statement from Buckingham Palace said on Tuesday.
“His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London this afternoon, for planned surgery on his hip which will take place tomorrow,” the statement read.
The 96-year-old had been absent from the royal family’s Easter Sunday Mass at Windsor Castle.
Prince Philip retired from his official duties last summer and has rarely accompanied the Queen on public engagements since then. (dpa/NAN)
