THE Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Ekiti Office has donated four brand new Toyota Hiace ambulances and medical equipment, to be distributed to selected state government-owned hospitals.

The distribution took place on Tuesday at a brief ceremony in Ado Ekiti.

Present at the ceremony carried out in line with COVID-19 Protocols were the Secretary of SDGs in Ekiti, Mr Olukayode Adunmo and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on SDGs, Mrs Abimbola Solanke.

Also distributed were 250 chairs and tables for some selected primary schools in the state.

Adunmo said that the four new ambulances were meant to boost health care delivery in four selected local government areas of the state.

He listed the benefiting hospitals and towns as Comprehensive Health Centre, Ogotun Ekiti, in Ekiti South West LGA, Basic Health Centre, Ayegbaju Ekiti, in Oye LGA, Primary Health Care Centre, Ijero Ekiti, in Ijero LGA and Primary Health Care Centre, Osun Ekiti, in Moba LGA.

According to him, the 250 chairs and tables, also to be distributed to schools in the four local governments, consist of 195 plastic chairs and tables and 55 wooden chairs and tables.

Adunmo explained that the items would have been distributed since February 2020, but for the COVID-19 outbreak and restrictions that followed.

He said formal handing over of all the items to the hospitals and schools would be done at a later date.

Solanke, who also spoke, lauded the federal and state governments for partnership with SDGs, saying the programme had brought a new lease of life to the people.

She assured that the SDGs in the state would continue to deliver on its targets by ensuring that quality jobs are done on projects, and standards maintained in all purchases. (NAN)
