IGP Condoles Family of Inspector who Died from Gun Wounds Sustained Fighting Boko Haram Insurgents

IBRAHIM Idris, inspector general of Police, has commiserated with family of the late Idris Musa, a Police inspector, who died on July 24, from injury he and two other Police officers sustained when they came under attack of remnant of Boko-Haram insurgents who were moving to attack public centres, places of worship and other locations in Kano metropolis in the early hours of July 23, 2017.

He extolled and appreciated Musa’s act of bravery, gallantry and supreme sacrifice of losing his life in active service to his fatherland, Nigeria and the Nigeria Police Force.

Idris said Musa would forever be remembered as one of the heroes of the Nigeria Police Force in the fight against Boko-Haram insurgency in the Nigeria. He assured that his death would not be vain.

The IGP has directed that the late inspector be given a befitting burial.

The Boko-Haram remnant insurgents attacked the Special Police Team with Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, and Fire arms. The Team repelled the attack and in the process three Boko-Haram insurgents sustained serious bullet wound injuries and three Police officers equally wounded. The Special Police Team successfully prevented the Boko-Haram insurgents from carrying out their planned attacks on selected targets in Kano metropolis on the fateful date.

The late inspector of Police was a member of the Joint Police Special Team set up by the IGP, to trail, arrest and prevent the remnant of Boko-Haram insurgents from regrouping to attack innocent Nigerians in Kano and other northern States.

However, three of the confessed Boko-Haram insurgents arrested and paraded with bullet wounds they sustained during exchange of fire with the Police Special Team in the early hours of July 23, 2017. The suspects gave their names as Abba Mohammed, 20, from Niger Republic; Usman A. Buhari, 23, an indigene of Borno State and Iliyasu Abdullahi, 46, of Gezawa, Kano State who died later on July 23, 2017 from the bullet wound injuries.
