IGR: Obiano’s aide urges Anambra residents to pay tax

Amaechi Okwuosa, Managing Director, Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, has urged residents to pay their taxes as at when due to fast track the development of Anambra.

Okwuosa spoke in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Awka.

He spoke after the recent foundation laying of the 10,000 capacity International Conference Centre by Gov. Willie Obiano, which was billed to be completed in December 2019.

He said that Gov. Obiano’s vision of erecting structural edifices was for its growth and development and was worth supporting through total compliance by citizens through paying their taxes promptly.

Okwuosa explained that the conference centre would house a five star restaurant, multiple halls among others on completion and was aimed at giving jobs to teeming unemployed persons in the state.

He said that the project would improve the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) on completion and described the project as first of its kind in the South- East geo-political zone.

He said that the construction manager of the firm handling the project, Mr Mark Tu, was carefully chosen and was optimistic that he would deliver in a record time.

The director commended the cordial relationship and peace enjoyed between the executive and legislature which has translated to peace and development in the state.

Okwuosa said that the speedy passage of the 2019 budget was a show of the commitment of the state lawmakers to the development and progress of the state.

He urged residents to give total support to the Obiano’s administration for more dividends of democracy in the state. (NAN)
