SAVE Ijaw Nation, a socio-political organisation, has commended Governor Henry Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State and Edwin Clark, a foremost Ijaw leader, with praises for their efforts in inaugurating the Joshua Fumudoh reconciliation committee.

The committee brokered peace among the feuding factions of the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, which had lingered and almost taking a self destructive turn on the ijaw nation.

Members of the committee include: Joshua Fumudoh, chairman; Dagogo Fubara, deputy chair; Goodknows Igali, secretary; Nimi Briggs; E.I. Etteh; Nimi Adoki; Rafi Suowari; Williams and Austin Dressman.

The group thanked the Governor for taking the bull by the horn when he commissioned the re conciliatory committee who did a wonderful job of bringing the dissenting factions together.

The group, in a statement by Perekeme Ayiba, its national vice chairman South-South zone, made this known on Wednesday, May 31, in NPA Waterside, Warri, when he said the efforts of reconciliation had bought together the oneness of the Ijaw people reiterating that what the Fumudoh committee had done was a highly commendable feat.

The Save Ijaw group saluted all stakeholders for respecting the recommendation of the committee and called on the newly inaugurated Exco led by Oweilami Kemetubo  to play by rules of the game.

Thus, Ayiba urged them to carry everyone along in the struggle for the betterment of the Ijaw Nation, saying “the time has come for all Ijaws no matter the location or political inclination to come together and work for resource control and self determination of the Ijaw Nation.”

He also charged the new Exco to eschew parochial interest, greed and work for the harmony and peace of the Ijaw nation.
